Are you doing the same mistake on your Federal Resume?

The apple is nothing like an orange, even though they are both types of fruit. The private industry resume is NOT the same as a federal resume, even though they are both resumes.
It is a big mistake to use one resume to cover all the job applications: private industry, government contractor, federal and whatever job titles that appeal to them at the moment.

Many candidates apply for jobs for years and don’t get hired because their resumes are not focused toward the type of industry or position that they are seeking.
Here are the important basic tips between a private industry resume and a federal resume:

  1. Length – private industry resumes are usually 2 pages and federal resumes are more often 3 to 5 pages in length.
  2. Detail – the one-line bullet point that you might have used in your private-sector resume will become four or six lines or four sentences about each major skill.
  3. Keywords – private industry resumes and the federal resume use the keywords.
  4. Accomplishments – both require to develop accomplishments as much as are related to the applied open position.

In fact, a government resume is considered to be the application, an examination, because they examine the resume to ensure you’re qualified. And sometimes government hiring managers don’t interview — they hire based on what they see on the resume.

If you've still having trouble writing your Federal resume, consider this 2 articles [1st & 2nd].
