One of the most important things you need to do when job searching is follow through. Prompt, polite and personal follow up notes will always make a good impression, and help you get noticed.
Follow-up letters are usually sent for two reasons:
  1. follow-up letters serve as an opportunity for additional contact after an initial meeting, career fair, or networking meeting;
  2. follow-up letters can effectively revive a job search by reconnecting a contact with whom you have not spoken in a while.
A follow-up letter is sent several weeks after sending a thank you letter in order to touch base once again with your contact and to reintroduce yourself. A follow-up letter provides you with the opportunity to restate your interest and to check for new job leads or information.

Another type of follow-up letter may be sent after submitting your resume and cover letter. If after several weeks, you have not heard from the employer, you should send a follow-up letter to reemphasize your interest in the company and the position.

Thank you letter

Reference / Recommendation letter

The purpose of thank you letters is to thank someone for meeting with you and to reaffirm your interest in the position or industry at hand. Thank you letters are, in turn, sent immediately.
Is usually written to testify to a person or (occasionally) a company’s skills, character and/or achievements. Sometimes a reference letter is known as a “recommendation letter”. It is a formal document, and should be typed and written in a serious and business-like style. Reference/Recommendation letters are used in a wide variety of situations; there is no definitive list that covers all possible scenarios.
Please Note:
A Reference letter is not the same as a Reference Page.

Supporting Statement

Selection Criteria

The Career Supporting Statement refers to Knowledge, Skills and Abilities [KSA] targeted for a specific job description and is used to the job application process.
Please Note:
A Supporting Statement is not the same as a Educational Programme Personal Statement/Statement of Purpose.
Key  selection criteria are the skills, attributes, knowledge and qualifications  that the employer has defined as being essential for satisfying the  requirements of the job.
